How do I choose the right LNB output count for multiple receivers?
Count the number of independent tuners that must operate at the same time, then match that to the LNB outputs: one output per independent tuner. A single-tuner receiver needs 1 output, a dual-tuner PVR needs 2, four rooms or a four-tuner box need 4 (Quad), and eight tuners need an Octo. For more than eight, use a Quattro LNB feeding a multiswitch, or a Unicable LNB to share one cable among many receivers.
Remember that a modern PVR or twin-tuner receiver often needs two outputs by itself so it can record one channel while you watch another. Undersizing the output count forces tuners to compete and blocks independent viewing or recording.
For large installations (apartment blocks, hotels, or 10+ rooms), direct-output LNBs no longer scale, so the architecture changes: a Quattro LNB provides the four fixed sub-bands to a multiswitch that distributes to many receivers, or a Unicable (EN50494/EN50607) LNB assigns each receiver a frequency slot on a shared cable. Choose direct outputs for small setups and multiswitch/Unicable for larger ones.
